Suno API pricing, explained without the sales page
Almost every surprise on an AI audio bill comes from three details: what counts as a call, what a call returns, and what happens when it fails.
What counts as a call
On per-call platforms you are billed for generation actions: creating a song, extending, replacing a section, separating stems, adding instruments. Reading is free: checking status, listing songs, fetching a download link, pulling lyrics or MIDI.
What one call returns
A generation returns two tracks, so the useful unit is "cost per song", not "cost per call". Other actions return one result - for example a section replacement or a stem split.
Where the money actually goes
| Action | Typical behaviour |
|---|---|
| Generate a song | Charged; returns two tracks |
| Extend / replace / cover | Charged; returns a new version |
| Stem separation | Charged; two-track and multi-track priced separately |
| Status, listing, downloads, lyrics, MIDI | Free |
| Failed task | Refunded automatically |
Budgeting for a real workload
Work from output, not from calls: decide how many usable songs per week you need, multiply by the per-generation price, then add a margin for regenerating tracks that miss. A single fixed per-generation price makes that arithmetic trivial compared with seat-based subscriptions.
常见问题 / FAQ
Is there a monthly minimum?
Not on pay-per-generation platforms; you top up and spend as you go.
Do failed generations cost anything?
They should not - failures are refunded, and you can confirm from the task status.
Are downloads billed separately?
Usually not. Downloads read existing assets, so they are free.
