Observability for a Suno API integration
If you only log HTTP status, you will miss the failures that cost money: duplicate submits, stuck tasks and expired media URLs.
Log one row per task
Store your request id, the provider task id, the account or tenant, the model, the submit time, every status transition, the download time and the final cost. The request id is your idempotency key; the task id is how you recover after a restart.
Metrics that catch money leaks
| Metric | What it catches |
|---|---|
| 429 rate | Bursts, missing backoff, too much concurrency |
| p95 submit-to-complete | Upstream slowdown before users complain |
| Terminal failure rate | Account, content or model problems |
| Duplicate submit rate | Timeouts being retried as new orders |
| Cost per successful song | Paid failures and duplicate charges |
Alerts worth waking up for
Alert on a sudden 429 spike, a failure-rate change, tasks stuck past your threshold, and a drop to zero completions. Do not alert on every individual retry; aggregate by tenant and task type.
常见问题 / FAQ
What is the most important field?
The provider task id. Without it, a restart during a render means you cannot find the result.
Should I log prompts?
Only if your privacy policy allows it. Prefer hashes or redacted summaries; prompts may contain customer data.
What is a good failure alert?
A rate change over a rolling window, not a single failed task. One failure is normal; a cluster is an incident.
