How to get a Suno API key
The key comes from a platform, not from Suno. That changes what you should check: the key itself is trivial, the platform behind it is the decision.
Where the key comes from
Register on a third-party platform, create a token in its console, and send it as a bearer token. There is no application form, no approval queue, and no official key to request from Suno.
Your first request
Generation is asynchronous: submitting returns a task, and you poll until the status is complete. Start with a cheap, single call, confirm the response shape, then wire up polling. A minimal call looks like this:
POST /api/music/create
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY
{
"description": "warm lo-fi piano loop",
"model": "suno-v6"
}
What to check before you pay
- Price per success, not per request, and what counts as a success.
- Free endpoints - status, list, lyrics and downloads should not be billed.
- Failure behaviour - automatic refund, and a status you can query.
- Timeout policy - generation can take minutes; a 30-second client timeout will look like a failure when it is not.
- Key handling - server-side only, and rotatable.
Keeping costs predictable
Budget by generation, not by call: one generation returns two tracks, and re-fetching a download link is not a new generation. Keep polling intervals sane (3-5 seconds), and never retry a timed-out submission blindly - that is the usual cause of duplicate charges.
常见问题 / FAQ
Does Suno issue API keys?
No. Keys come from third-party platforms that wrap the engine.
How long is a key valid?
Usually until you revoke it. Rotate it if it ever leaves your server.
Why did a call time out but still produce a song?
Submission is synchronous to acceptance but the render is not. Query the task instead of resubmitting.
